Department Activities (2020-2021)

  • Department of English Organizing Weekly Seminar for our Department Students to Supplement and horn their communication skills
  • Conducted an awareness program on Covid-19 Pandemic by Medical Officers, PHC Mailam
  • Our Students participated and donated One Unit of blood in “one-day Blood donation camp” organized by our college NSS.
  • Students participated in various Webinar organized by Various Universities and Institutions and received E-Certificates.
  • We are glad that Department of English organized Five Day National Webinar on “LITERATURE AND LANGUAGE IN MODERN PERSPECTIVE” from 24/07/2020 to 28/07/2020.
  • Experts, Resource Persons and Experienced Faculties from various States and Universities were delivered a special Lecture on Redefining Literary Values in Modern Scenario.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES (2019-2020)

  • Department of English organized a One day workshop on “Spoken English” by Elroister Technology, Puducherry on July 2019. All final year students participated and got benefited.
  • We conducted a One day Workshop on the title “Pronunciation skills and its Wield” on August 13, 2019. Students and faculty members from various institutions participated and enriched their skills.
  • Our department organized a weekly seminar for our department students to enhance their communication skills.
  • Organized Industrial Visit for final year students to learn about Journalism and publishing skills; visited lively “The Hindu” Printing press at Madurai on October 6th 2019.
  • Students from II and III year participated and won prizes and awards in various State and National Level ORATORICAL, ELOCUTION, ESSAY WRITING, RECITATION, DRAWING AND POSTURE PRESENTATION competition organized by Tamil Kaviyarasar Mandram, Villupuram.
  • Students participated and Presented paper in One day National seminar Organized by Dr.M.G.R. college of Arts and Science for Women, Villupuram on January 30th 2020.
  • Conducted Awareness Program on “PERSONAL HYGIENE AND SANITATION” for girls by ANM, PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE, Mailam.
  • Literary Club Activity: ROLE PLAY, DEBATE, GROUP DISCUSSION had been conducted periodically to ameliorate the knowledge and skills of the students.
  • Students from II and III Participated in One day National Conference on 05/03/2020 organized by Department of English, Sacred Heart Arts and Science college for Women, Perani.
  • Department of English organized a One day National Conference on” English Studies: Discourse in the Modern Precedential” on 07/03/2020 at our College, participants like Students (UG, PG), faculty members and Research Scholars empowered the Literary vision.

Literary Club Activities

The Literary club’s objective is to develop the literary skills of the students. The club encourages the students to develop a taste for literature and also work towards improving their spoken and written language. It is involved in a variety of activities aimed at building up the confidence and grooming the talents of students in facing various interpersonal activities and competitions. The club has initiated competitions in extempore, essay writing, creative writing, poetry writing, debate , elocution, skit, quiz and reading to enhance the speech and Oratorical skills of students.

SPOKEN ENGLISH COURSE

  • Department of English organised the spoken English course for all 3rd and 2nd year Students of our college.
  • The aim of this Spoken English course to enrich basic communication skills for the students and it helps students ability for employability.
  • Spoken English course has provided by placements for imparting the skills has social welfare for the students.

Industrial Visit (Functions Of Print Media)

Department of English has initiated on Industrial Visit for 3rd year students of our department. This visit is really useful to our students.

Our students has been learned for functioning of the print media section. They are eye opener for visited the esteemed printing section of the press.
